in our section it was all about team work to make things go by so smooth. My co-workers as well were great people a lot didn't speak much English but they still get the job done in an orderly fashion. whenever you feel like you're overworked or becoming tired just let someone know so that you can take a break and someone else can come fill in for what your doing. Management are all great people they make sure were comfortable at all times. Then bubble wrap the desserts and put the in the freezer next to my station with a sticker that tells what day they were prepared and what day they need to be thrown out which is always three days later. I typically start the day buy seeing what was left behind to be thrown out or given to charities then I go on to preparing my salad bar with fresh Romaine Salad, cherry tomatoes, banana peppers, fresh shredded cheese. I had showed up to every shift before then, picked up shifts they asked - more. 10 minutes of chastising without asking one question about my situation. The manager never even asked if she was okay, but kept cutting me off demanding I come in no matter what. I tried to explain that I literally was on the way home to get ready for work when I got the call about my sister and needed to go to the ER right away. They immediately cut me off and told me I wasn't allowed to call in and would be written up and possibly fired for this. I called out because my sister had a very serious emergency and I needed to go to the ER and pick up my nieces and take care of them. Poor communication in managers and they tried to fire me for my VERY FIRST CALLOUT. They seem to value to-go guests more, so your guests don't get as good of an experience, therefore you lose out on tips. They rarely schedule prep workers, so you're left to go find salad ingredients, AND make bread, all while trying to serve your tables. They promised to work with my schedule, then got angry when I confronted them about scheduling me outside of my availability, even though it's what they agreed to upon hiring me. I returned for a part time job in 2022 and was disappointed in how much it had changed. I worked at Olive Garden as a host for 3 years in high school and loved it, I had the most supportive managers, who actually valued you as a person. It's honestly not enough money for the work you're putting in. You will always be busy as a server because people get soup, salad, and bread unlimited.
